We got used that the operating systems of Windows family developed by Microsoft corporation, are presented generally in desktop computers and laptops, and also mobile devices, for example Windows Phone 7 for communicators. Despite that anybody especially didn't advance Sync, and it was on sale only as an option, in the 2007th year in the USA about 30 thousand systems were sold. Moreover, the same year the system began to be established on 12 models of cars of the Ford, Lincoln and Mercury brands.
On a wave of this success in February the 2008th general manager of automobile division of Microsoft Martin Toll declared that until the end of the year Microsoft intends to sign the contract with the largest American automakers on Microsoft Auto delivery. Moreover, he declared that the company intends to make the operating system for the car same popular, as well as for personal computers. After that loud statement of Microsoft calmed down for two and a half years.
And here only in July of this year there was a WINDOWS EMBEDDED AUTOMOTIVE 7 platform beta version. And on October 19 at the SAE Convergence 2010 exhibition in Detroit Microsoft presented final Windows Embedded Automotive 7 of an automobile line of Embedded Automotive.

WINDOWS EMBEDDED AUTOMOTIVE 7 - features

As it is possible to understand from the name WINDOWS EMBEDDED Automotive 7 is the program platform intended for work in onboard systems of various cars. One of the first it will be received by information and entertaining system (Information Hub) in the Nissan Leaf model where realizes very wide range of communication, entertaining and navigation functions.
Among features of WINDOWS EMBEDDED Automotive 7 it is possible to allocate Microsoft Silverlight technology support that allows to realize more attractive user interface, and also technology of transformation of the text in speech in real time. Besides, the operating system for the Windows Embedded Automotive 7 car offers the improved possibilities of expansion at the expense of foreign plug-ins.
The decisions created by means of WINDOWS EMBEDDED AUTOMOTIVE 7, will allow drivers to receive more flexible management of safety, and also to use various entertaining possibilities.
Already now the platform is in a mode of testing and with it the automobile companies Fords, Kia, Fiats, Nissans, Paccar and Alpine work.

WINDOWS EMBEDDED AUTOMOTIVE - functions

Unlike the predecessor, WINDOWS EMBEDDED AUTOMOTIVE 7 can be the unique system in the car. On its basis can be created as the office technical systems which are carrying out monitoring of all knots of cars, and exclusively entertaining systems.
In general, developers position the system as «capable to integrate management, communications, navigation, entertainments and information services in one platform». For the maximum comfort of consumers, the system supports voice teams, touch data input, hands free a font, a public address system through Bluetooth and other very convenient functions.
Windows Embedded Automotive is now tested in the Ford company where say that on the basis of system board computers of their future electromobiles will be created. The first models should appear in the first half of the 2011th year.
Among functions of new Windows Embedded Automotive 7 - management of a voice, touch input, and also work possibility with a wide number of multimedia applications.
One of the main features of an automobile operating system is a system of recognition of a voice on the basis of the Tellme technology. She will allow drivers to give to communication system of the car voice teams and to dictate Sms, however, Russian in the list of supported languages while isn't present.
The multimedia Silverlight technology will allow to create for a new automobile operating system applications with two-dimensional and three-dimensional graphics.
The special panel of access will provide to the driver convenient access to music and cartographical appendices, external programs and system of different connection of portable devices.
For example, if the owner of the car goes on Friday evening on stadium, he can receive on the special screen the card of its arrangement, the help in the direction of travel and at the same time with it to start the playlist from MP3 compositions with favourite melodies. If, being in the car, the driver will receive the SMS or phone call, through system of a public address system he can answer the message in a voice mode.
On the basis of the WINDOWS EMBEDDED AUTOMOTIVE 7 platform automakers and software developers can create the applications. Among them - office technical systems, for example, systems analyzing technical serviceability, and also different entertaining systems.
It is expected that the first cars with communication system on the basis of Windows Embedded Automotive 7 will appear on sale not earlier than in one and a half years.
