Digital sketches

Make sketches on paper - and then translate them into digital format for further processing on a computer allows a new "digital pen" from Wacom.

Inkling - is not just conceptual project, but a completely turnkey solution, which is already available, in particular, in the company's online store Wacom, at a price of 199 U.S. dollars.

The kit includes a ballpoint pen and a compact receiver that attaches to the top of the paper sheet. No scanner: working, the receiver keeps a record of the spatial position of the tip of the "pen" on paper, and then connect to the computer via the USB transmits this data the special program Sketch Manager, which forms an image in digital form and can start its processing and editing. Of course, Inkling is fully compatible with the graphics package Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator (versions from CS3), as well as Autodesk Sketchbook Pro 2011, and is able to immediately export the outline of these programs. However, the computer can not hurry: built-in memory receiver will retain information on thousands of sketches.

Something similar, of course, already been implemented creators of the infamous "digital pen» APEN. However, the product of Wacom, as befits the company, is designed for professionals, and offers a major improvement in the most important: sensitivity to the pressing force, which allows you to transmit in digital form, not just a "flat" straight line, but their thickness. This is achieved by using the most sensitive sensor in the handle that can distinguish between the 1024 levels of pressure.
